Sean Payton revealed that Taysom Hill could be the next big franchise quarterback for the Saints. Here’s a look at the possibility of this happening:
Sean Payton’s decision of choosing Hill as the starting quarterback over Jameis Winston shocked everyone. However, it proved to work out well. Can Hill really be the future for the Saints?
Sean Payton hints at Taysom Hill being the next franchise QB for the Saints

This basically means that Payton is interested in seeing how Hill could be as a starting quarterback. It is unlikely that Hill would takeover anytime soon, but there is a possibility in the future.
Taysom Hill contract
Hill signed an extension through the 2021 season in April that was due to pay him $21 million, with $16 million being guaranteed and another $1 million possible in incentives.
Hill proved himself in his very first NFL start as a quarterback. He led the Saints to a win against the Falcons. The Saints now have an eight-game win streak.
What happened to Drew Brees?
Drew Brees is currently dealing with a rib injury, and will mostly be back after week 14. Brees, aged 45 is set to pay for the Saints through 2021. It is very likely that Brees will retire after next year.
He had signed a 2 year $50 million deal. However, Brees is still playing at a top-class level. He has a completion percentage of 73.5% which is the best in the league. There is a very slim chance though that he will play any longer in the NFL.
Taysom Hill stats
Hill had a spectacular first game as a quarterback. He didn’t have a passing touchdown, but he did rush for 2 touchdowns. He completed a solid 18/23 passes while throwing for 233 yards.
Jameis Winston on the other hand is still benched. However, he could still take over anytime during the next few weeks. If Hill struggles during a game, Winston could take control over the offense.
