Markieff Morris to either join LeBron James and the Lakers, or Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers

Reports say Markieff Morris is being sought after by both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers.

The most hyped up rivalry going into the 2019-20 NBA season was the one built up between the 2  LA teams: the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers.

The matchup everyone was waiting for was their inevitable Western Conference Finals series. This however, never came to fruition as the Clippers blew a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets in the 2^nd round of the Playoffs. Meanwhile, the Lakers went on to clinch the 2020 NBA title.

Now, the ‘Battle for LA’ is starting to tense up once again during this offseason. Sources around the league suggest that Markieff Morris is torn between the two LA goliaths and who to play for next season.

Markieff Morris is being pursued by both the Clippers and the Lakers.

The Lakers reignited the rivalry between them and the Clippers when they signed former Clipper 6MOTY, Montrezl Harrell this past week.

Now, the Lakers look to retain Markieff Morris, and bring him back for a second season. The Clippers have also entered the Morris sweepstakes and according to Marc Stein, are looking to lure him to the new Inglewood Center.

He is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and so the decision is all on him, on where he would like to play next.

How did Markieff Morris perform last season?

Markieff and his brother Marcus aren’t only similar physically, but also in the way they play the game. Markieff, just like his brother, is a stretch 4 who can hold his own on the defensive end of the floor. Kieff can however also play the role of a center – one that Marcus hasn’t been asked to do yet.

He is no 3-point specialist, nor is he a defensive savant by any means. But he is worth bringing off the bench to knock down around two or so 3s a game.

He averaged 5.3 points per game, while knocking down a below average 40% of his shots from the field.
