‘Warriors can compete with anyone in the NBA’: Stephen Curry throws down gautlet to Lakers and LeBron James
The Warriors led by Stephen Curry are in high spirits for the next NBA season despite losing Klay Thompson to an Achilles tear.
Klay Thompson missed all of the 2019-20 season with an ACL tear sustained in Game 6 of last year’s NBA Finals. The Warriors were also without Stephen Curry for over 4 months. They finished with the worst record in the NBA and got the second pick in the NBA Draft 2020.

Stephen Curry will be supported by the likes of Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman and Kelly Oubre on offense. The onus will be on him to spearhead them with his unmatched shooting.

Curry is confident the Warriors will still be formidable without Klay Thompson.
“It’s going to hard at first, for sure. We’ve been waiting seven months to get back out there. Not seeing [Thompson] on the court, at first, is going to be weird. We’re going to have to learn a lot really quickly, and we will need a full commitment from everybody.”
“We know we can compete with anyone in the league. It’s kind of crazy. We know how great Klay is. Don’t get me wrong. But we hear the chatter. ‘It’s the end of for us. This year is a wash. What are we going to do in the future?’”
“But we are in the moment right now. It’s kind of refreshing being in that category as guys that are chasing. We know [the Los Angeles Lakers] are the defending champs. We got to beat them. We’re ready for it.”

The Warriors will find it hard to wade through a Western Conference in which seemingly every team other than the Thunder is looking to make the playoffs. But in Stephen Curry, they have a player who can torch the best of defenses on his day.
