“Michael Jordan is still the GOAT”: President Obama explains why Lakers’ LeBron James still has some catching up to do
President Obama noted that while Michael Jordan is the greatest ever in his mind, LeBron’s longevity is unbelievable.
During an appearance on 360 with Speedy Norman, spoke about the never-ending GOAT debate. The basketball community has long regarded Michael Jordan as the GOAT, but LeBron James is doing a great job of getting into the conversation over the past 5 years or so.

Jordan made an appearance in the NBA All Star Game at the grand old age of 40. He was quite deserving of the honour too. However, Obama referred to LeBron’s longevity as something more admirable.
What Obama said regarding Michael Jordan vs LeBron James
The 2-term president of the United States had his term through the best years of LeBron James’s career. Hailing from Illinois and a college student during Michael Jordan’s heyday, Obama still does have his reasons to prefer MJ:
“LeBron is making strides in the GOAT debate. [But he’s not quite there yet?] Not quite because look, his career is not over yet. And we don’t know how many more rings he might win.”

“Here’s what I will say about LeBron, who is indisputably, one of the top two already. His longevity…. The fact that I joked about him because I was with him on ‘The Shop’ right before the election.”
“You know, he doesn’t look like he’s lost a step. I know that he is benefiting from the kind of training and nutrition and treatments, and all that folks in Michael’s generation just did not benefit from.”
“But part of it is just – he’s a freak. And right now it looks like he could keep on doing what he’s doing right now for another five years, right? If at 40, he’s still an All-Star and competing in this way, you know that you have to factor that in.”
