‘Michael Jordan is the GOAT standard of success’: Steph Curry refuses to compare himself with MJ at new brand release
Steph Curry still can’t believe that he’s only the third basketball player ever to have his own brand.
The legendary Golden State Warriors point guard first shot to fame in the 2012-13 season. Despite not making the All Star game, the 24-year-old made the All-NBA team for breaking the record for most made 3-pointers in a single NBA season.

Curry’s Warriors upset the 3rd-seeded Denver Nuggets in the playoffs that year. 2 years after leaving Nike and signing with Under Armour, Curry became the NBA MVP, and subsequently the league champion.
His success and popularity reached a new level in 2015-16 when he became the NBA’s first ever undisputed MVP. The Warriors finished with a regular season record of 73-9 – the greatest in NBA history.
How Curry’s success allowed his brand to build like Jordan Brand
When asked about the release of his own brand, Curry said the experience was ‘still surreal’ for him.
“It’s kind of wild, bro, to be honest. It’s very surreal. I know a lot of people like to link it with Jordan Brand in terms of having a legacy brand attached to the company, and he is the GOAT standard of success when it comes to doing that, but we are going to do it a different way and something that is authentic to me.”

“We are trying to plant our flag and just live out the purpose we are setting out to do with everything that we do and that for when it comes to product, when it comes to marketing, when it comes to our community give-back and our initiatives, all those things will be true to who I am and true to anybody that wants to participate and change the game for good.”
