“I’m done listening to Kyrie Irving”: Shannon Sharpe says he regrets ever listening to Nets star’s comments
Shannon Sharpe went off on Kyrie Irving, saying he’s done listening to him and that he regrets ever giving Irving the time of the day.
Kyrie Irving tried to avoid the media so that he can keep a low profile and doesn’t have ‘fake narratives’ built around him by the media. However, this inadvertently backfired as all Irving did was have his name feature in the tabloids.
Upon being fined $25,000, Irving finally decided to open up his media availability. He addressed a multitude of his previous comments, including the one he made about the media being pawns, and also about not needing Steve Nash as a coach.
He also shed light on the ‘James Harden to the Nets’ rumors and said he just wants Harden to be happy.
Though Kyrie has finally decided to speak with the media, Shannon Sharpe has apparently had enough of the 2016 champion’s antics.
Shannon Sharpe takes shots at Kyrie Irving.
In some of the recent instalments of Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe didn’t hold back on his thoughts on Kyrie Irving. A few days back, Sharpe said, “Talking about media pawns?! Kyrie knows he did wrong on this.”
Sharpe is also frustrated by the fact that Kyrie speaks his mind when it comes to his own “outlandish” opinions, but when it comes to answering questions, he has nothing to say.
Kyrie had no problem saying NBA players shouldn’t play in the bubble when he wasn’t allowed to go. Kyrie had no problem saying KD was the only teammate who could take clutch shots like him. Now all of a sudden he has nothing to say. pic.twitter.com/gV1OvSslhz

Sharpe seems like he’s done with Irving. He said, “I don’t listen to Kyrie anymore. Because I’m going to sit back one day and regret the minutes I did spend listening to him.”
Should Kyrie Irving answer to the media when asked to?
Since the inception of the NBA till perhaps 2010, the media was the only gateway between the players and the public. However, due to the rise of social media, players can send out one ‘tweet’ or put up a ‘story’, and interact with their fans/ the public whenever they choose to.
This has made the media a bit less valuable this past decade, than it has been for the past 60 years. Nonetheless, the NBA still has strict guidelines players must follow when it comes to interacting with the media. Each player has an obligation to speak with the media when needed, and Kyrie Irving isn’t exempt from this.
