“There’s a target on our backs, but we’ll be ready”: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope sends warning that LeBron James and Lakers will repeat
Los Angeles Lakers players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope say that they know they have a target on their backs but will be ready.
The Los Angeles Lakers steamrolled through the 2020 Bubble Playoffs as they boasted a 16-5 record en route to their 17th title in franchise history.
As the 2020-21 NBA season is set to commence in a couple of days, the Lakers look to stand their ground and defend the championship, in hopes for a repeat.
The Lakers have also revamped their line-up going into next season and have in turn become the heavy favourites to claim the Larry O’Brien trophy once again, in 2021.
The Lakers roster and staff are quite confident in their abilities and have gone on record to say that they won’t be ‘backing down’ from any team.
KCP and Frank Vogel voice their opinions on what they expect from the Lakers this season.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was at times, the Lakers’ 3rd best player in the Bubble, behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He made big plays down the stretch for the Lakers, whether it was on the fast break or corner 3.
When asked about the upcoming season, he said, “We’re going to approach them (other teams) as if every game means something. I know there’s a target on our back. I feel like our minset is that we’re going to be ready as well.”
Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was very straightforward in his interview and said, “We’re going to have some ugly moments early on. Nobody’s complaining about it, nobody’s feeling sorry for themselves. We will make the best of the early part of the season and be ready.”
