“That’s the most important thing in a team sport like Formula 1” – Pierre Gasly underlines the primary strength of AlphaTauri
“That’s the most important thing in a team sport like Formula 1” – Pierre Gasly has spoken about what makes them click at AlphaTauri, especially after a disappointing spell with ‘sister’ Red Bull.
Pierre Gasly had a wonderful season with AlphaTauri, capped off by his maiden win in F1. It was important for him to prove his mettle, and he did so in brilliant style. So much so, there were talks of the Frenchman being snapped up by his ‘home’ team Renault.

In an interview with Auto Motor und Sport, Gasly spoke about the core strength of AlphaTauri – the team mentality. McLaren, Racing Point, and AlphaTauri stood out this season for their magnetic team chemistry, and that helped the drivers perform to the best of their incredible abilities.
“The team has a great mentality, a great attitude. There is a lot of positive energy. We all work well together. That’s the most important thing in a team sport like Formula 1.”
“I do my job on Sunday but the development work, the set-up of the car, all of this work is done before the race weekend. The harmony is right. Everyone gives 110% of their skills for the results on the track.”

He also mentioned the crucial point that he did not have a huge influence on this year’s car as he demoted by Red Bull midway through the last season. But now, his feedback is going to be invaluable to the team, especially considering he has a new rookie partner in Yuki Tsunoda.
“For the first time, I will be on the team for two seasons in a row. Everything that happened this year – the co-operation and the feedback to the engineers – flows into next year’s development. I want to work even more closely with them to influence developments.”
“When I speak of more responsibility, I mean the fact that we will work together longer. After 2018 I was with Red Bull. In 2019 I came back quite late in the year. I didn’t have that much influence on this year’s car.”
