“This topic is closed to us”- Helmut Marko confirms Daniil Kvyat will never ever get a spot in any of four Red Bull’s seats after his 2020 performances.
Daniil Kvyat got dismissed from his services at Alpha Tauri after he got replaced by F2 prospect Yuki Tsonuda, who will be making his debut in 2021.
Though it appears even without Tsonuda, Kvyat’s exit from the team looked inevitable, as Helmut Marko is adamant that the Russian driver will never be recalled in the foreseeable future.
“He showed some speed in the last two or three races”, Marko opens the conversation with Motorsport-Total.com. “That’s too little with all the routine and experience he has.”
Marko also confirms that Kvyat will no longer be part of the Red Bull drivers from now on. “This topic is closed to us,” he added. Kvyat once touched heights by serving Red Bull’s primary team till 2016 where he had to be relegated to Toro Rosso (now Alpha Tauri) to make space for Max Verstappen.
Then he had to be dropped from the sister team too so that Pierre Gasly could be brought in, he eventually made a comeback to Alpha Tauri after Gasly was promoted to Red Bull, and stayed with the setup until this date.
Daniil Kvyat feels he got little opportunity
The Russian driver in his last interviews didn’t seem pleased with the decision made, and also complained about the delay in confirming things concerning his future.
But most importantly, he feels that he didn’t get the opportunities to display his worth, and said if he had a dominant car, he would have consistently challenged for the championship.
Yet, he largely trailed behind his teammate Gasly, who even won a Grand Prix in Italy this season to mark his capability. Kvyat on the other side couldn’t top above P4 this season.
