“Everyone throws us their best punch”: Tristan Thompson explains how his Celtics and the LeBron James era Cavs teams are very similar

Celtics’ center Tristan Thompson drew a comparison between his former team with LeBron James and his current team.

Tristan Thompson is one of the new additions to the Celtics roster. His addition to the squad has added mobility and flexibility at the center position. He also brings with him the experience of NBA Finals, as Thompson was part of the LeBron James-led Cavs that faced the Warriors 4 years in a row.

Tristan Thompson brings toughness and solid defense to the Celtics, which Daniel Theis was unable to do so before. In his 5 games with the Celtics, Tristan has put up 9.2 points and 8.6 rebounds.

The 6’9″ center/forward has been around greatness, as he spent 4 years with LeBron James at the Cavs. He was among the few teammates to not get traded/leave during the time James was there.

Tristan Thompson talks about the Championship atmosphere in Boston

Tristan Thompson feels the energy in Boston is just like it used to be during the LeBron era Cavs. When you are a championship contender, everyone is coming for you, every single night. Tristan feels that the Celtics receive the same treatment.

“In Cleveland I remember there were times where, whether we were Eastern Conference champs or finalists, we got everyone’s best punch every night,” said Thompson. “Here with the Celtics, it’s a similar situation.”

The Celtics are certainly one of the most well-balanced teams in the NBA as of now. They have bonafide stars in Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker, and Marcus Smart. Even though they have a slow 3-3 start to the season, they are surely predicted to end within the top 4 in the East by the time the season runs its course.
