“Thanks for answering with more than one word, Joe Harris”: Charles Barkley throws major shade at Nets’ Kevin Durant over opening day interview
Charles Barkley takes shots at Kevin Durant for just saying, “yeah” during a postgame interview at the beginning of the season.
After a strong the start to their 2020-21 NBA campaign led by Kevin Durant, the Brooklyn Nets seemed to have cooled off. They now have a 5-5 record and are bang in the middle of the Conference standings at 8th.
The Nets faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers two nights ago. They handily took care of the current number 1 seed out East, despite not having Kevin Durant nor Kyrie.
Sharpshooter Joe Harris led the way for the Nets as he scored 28 points while going 11-19 from the field. This earned him a postgame interview with the crew of NBAonTNT. While asking Harris questions, Charles Barkley decided to slyly throw shade at Kevin Durant.
Charles Barkley recalls Kevin Durant giving him the cold shoulder
Charles Barkley sang Harris’s praise for the entirety of the interview, calling him one of the most underrated players in league. However, towards the end of the interview, Chuck said, “Hey Joe, I just want to thank you for answering our questions with more than one word.”
This is of course a callback to Kevin Durant being interviewed postgame by Chuck and the crew. Following the Nets blowout win over Steph Curry and the Warriors on opening night, Sir Charles asked KD about how he’s been working on his game to come back from injury.

Durant immediately replied with a simple, “yeah.” It was apparent that Barkley was expecting a more well thought out and intricate response but that remained to be all KD wanted to say.
Perhaps KD didn’t feel too comfortable talking to Chuck after his comments on teammate Kyrie Irving and how he should, “shut up and play basketball.” It could also be KD picking up on Irving’s habits of not wanting to address the media all too often
