“Michael Jackson never came in second”: LaVar Ball advises Michael Jordan’s Hornets to field LaMelo Ball in the starting lineup
Loudmouth LaVar Ball wants his son LaMelo Ball to start for the Hornets after good performances off the bench.
LaMelo Ball was one of the most highly sought after prospects in the 2020 Draft. A lot of people had a lot of expectations from the 19-year-old. So far, LaMelo has been averaging 13.1 rebounds, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game, which are not bad numbers for a rookie.
However, his father feels like this is a disgrace to his son. The NBA promoted the Hornets vs Pelicans match, which was aired on National television, as the battle between two Ball brothers. LaVar Ball felt as if it was only done because the Ball brothers were involved in the same.
“Why are they showcasing this game? Charlotte ain’t never get on ESPN. Charlotte against Pelicans? That’s on ESPN? Yeah, when it’s the Ball boys playing. Any other brothers, you can forget about it. That’s right, the Ball name is strong.”
LaVar Ball compares LaMelo Ball to Michael Jackson
The Hornets managed to top the Pelicans for the first match of the Ball brothers in the league. It was a proud day for the Ball family, and no one was prouder than the patriarch of the Ball family, LaVar Ball. All his hard work and efforts have put his sons in such a desirable spot. Yet, LaVar was not happy with the Hornets. They call LaMelo off the bench, and that does not sit right with LaVar.
“Tell me, have you ever seen a marquee guy, a marquee guy that you promoting in all of this ‘brothers going up against each other,’ and he don’t start?” he said. “I never seen that before in my life. That’s like telling Michael Jackson, ‘Hey man, you coming on second.”

Even though the 19-year-old has been playing well, but he still is not reaching the level where can be called to start for the Hornets. Comparing him with Michael Jackson right now might not be the best thing to do, as he still has to prove his worth. His skillset would certainly help him to do so, but he still has a long way to go.
