“We’ll hold Anthony Davis accountable for his comments and vice-versa”: LeBron James responds to Lakers star’s comments on their ‘sh*t defense’

LeBron James replied to Anthony Davis for his comments on the Lakers’ defense; said they will hold Davis accountable and vice-versa.

The Lakers seem to have found their groove 11 games into the season. They are sitting pretty atop the Western Conference with an 8-3 record following their win over the Rockets last night.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers in scoring last night as he dropped 27 points while shooting an efficient 9-12 from the field. He also set the tone on defense for the Lakers as he recorded 3 blocked shots on the night.

Defense is something ‘the Brow’ prides himself on and makes sure he presence is felt on that end of the court. He was a legitimate candidate for DPOY last season, and many argue that he should’ve won DPOY honours over Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Following a loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Anthony Davis let out his frustrations to the media postgame. He said, “Our defense was sh*t tonight. We didn’t play a lick of defense and guys did whatever they wanted.”

Following last night’s win over James Harden and co, LeBron James was asked about how he felt when Anthony Davis made these remarks. LeBron said, “He’s a captain. He’s one of the two captains that we have, including myself, and he can voice any opinion he wants.”

“He’s holding himself accountable. So when he holds us accountable, we hold him accountable and vice versa. So you know, AD can say whatever he wants because it’s all for the betterment of our team. We are responsive to that. So we thought that was right on point.”

Anthony Davis has been consistent on both ends of the floor for a majority of his career. Pairing him with a defensive minded coach like Frank Vogel is a recipe for success. Lapses on the defensive end of the floor won’t be a common occurrence for the Lakers going forward.
