Australian Grand Prix New Date 2021: F1 race may happen less than week before first Ashes test
Australian Grand Prix New Date 2021: F1 race in Melbourne may happen less than a week before England’s tour to Australia for the Ashes.
F1 and cricket crossover seems to be the most unusual sights in the season, with only Australia and England are among the cricket playing nations to be intensively involved in Formula 1.
But this year, due to the COVID-19 postponement series in F1, Australia might have to deal with two big events simultaneously. Earlier, Australia was supposed to organize the first Formula 1 race of the season in Melbourne.

But in the latest list released by Formula 1, the event has been pushed back to late November, making Bahrain, the de-facto season opener, while in the same week, England and Australia’s cricket teams are supposed to vie for the prestigious Ashes series.
Just doing some dreaming, but as it stands the new date for the Australian Grand Prix is the day before the Ashes start. In Australia.

For those who don’t know, when the Ashes comes, it is the greatest rivalry in the cricket and probably the greatest test schedule throughout the year.
Meanwhile, the Australian Grand Prix has its own prestige, with the fans at Albert Park always appear in humungous numbers. However, the crossover might not turn to be a struggle for the Australian government, as at that time the test series would be at the onset, and the first match is supposed to be played in Brisbane.
And, the F1 race in Australia is always held in Melbourne. Thus a distance of more than 1,770 km will be separating the two events.
Are there going to be further postponements?
When 2021 was supposed to be easier for Formula 1, things were getting even more struggling for the race organizers as Vietnam was the first to withdraw their participation.
Soon, Australia demanded their postponement, and China soon followed suit, and now the latter is yet to enrol back in the newly released list.
So, while the new strain is ravaging the world’s global affairs, Formula 1 might see further problems in organizing the races at least till the summer ends.
