“Regardless of what Gunther said, my job is to”- Nikita Mazepin on Gunther Steiner’s ‘financial decision’ comment
“Regardless of what Gunther said, my job is to”- Nikita Mazepin on Gunther Steiner’s ‘financially driven’ hiring comment.
Nikita Mazepin making into F1 ahead of his superior ranked counterparts did disappoint a few. Still, in the end, it brought millions of cash for Haas to survive for a couple of years at least.
On last Tuesday, Gunther Steiner said that the funding by Dmitry Mazepin (father of Nikita Mazepin) brings stability to the side, which probably irked junior Mazepin.
“You know that when you enter Formula 1, there is really only one chance and in my case it will be no different,” the number five of the past Formula 2 championship is quoted by Spanish medium Marca.
“Regardless of what Guenther said, I would say my job is to beat my teammate, as always, and do my best. So the pressure is still on my shoulders. I think I am ready for Formula 1 and I want to show that to the team first,” Mazepin concluded.
The friction Haas should have avoided.
Mazepin ever since arrived at Haas, he brought innumerable problems, that any team would any day seek to avoid. For the starters, he has already claimed a hostile relationship with his teammate Mick Schumacher.
On the other hand, the groping incident made him further infamous and propelled fans to demand his sacking. But Haas, because of the situation’s vulnerability, took the hit by initiating an internal investigation, classifying its outcomes.
In simpler words, they kept the rookie Russian race driver without taking the hassle of admitting their financial shortcoming and consequences they can face by sacking Mazepin.
In the following public addresses, Steiner has said that Haas believes in making him learn things about life, as he is relatively still young and could change over time. But a repetition would automatically end in his elimination from the team.
