Joe Biden was sworn in as the new President of the United States of America this Wednesday. Surprisingly, this had no effect on the television ratings of AEW and NXT. In fact, promotions witnessed an increase in viewership from last week.
NXT vs AEW ratings this week
Per PW Torch, Dynamite had 854,000 viewers for a .36 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, NXT brought in with 659,000 viewers for a .15 rating point in the same 18-49 demo. This is an increase of 92,000 viewers from the week prior for the Tony Khan led promotion while NXT netted an increase of 108,000 viewers.
This week’s AEW viewership was up 12% from last week, and the rating was up by 20% in the key 18-49 demographic. This week’s NXT viewership was up 20% from last week, and the key demo rating was up 7%. The total viewership for Wednesday night totalled at 1,513,000 pro wrestling fans.
AEW took the lead on NXT once again. The overall increase on both shows however, bodes well for the industry and is encouraging to both. Both companies though are still a bit away from the million mark, although AEW have flirted with the number a couple of times in the last month or two.
