Michael Klinger: The coach of Melbourne Renegades proved his fielding skills outside the boundary rope at the Docklands Stadium.

During the 49th match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat in Melbourne, former Australia batsman and current Melbourne Renegades coach Michael Klinger proved his fielding skills on the back of an impressive reflex catch at the beyond rope.

It all happened on the first delivery of the 11th over when Renegades wicket-keeper batsman Sam Harper (57) pulled a rank short delivery by Lewis Gregory for a six over deep square leg.

Klinger, who was being interviewed by host broadcaster Fox Sports, was made aware about the ball coming his way. Having just turned back, Klinger fancied a catching opportunity and didn’t waste it by completing a nice and clean catch.

Given how the 40-year old had a maximum of a couple of seconds to complete the catch, Klinger earned appreciation from the on-field anchor and commentators for still having it in him.

Klinger, who has been coaching Renegades since last season, has had a terrible start to his coaching career for the Aaron Finch-led team has only won six out of their 27 matches under Klinger.

The recently concluded match against Brisbane Heat at the Docklands Stadium witnessed the hosts getting bundled out for 147 in 18.4 overs in a 174-run chase.

Playing only his second match for Heat this season, Marnus Labuschagne won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for scoring 49 (31) and picking bowling figures of 2-0-10-1 which included Harper’s priced scalp.
