“You can sweat on and body each other all game long but no hugs?”: Kyrie Irving and Bam Adebayo not allowed to swap their jerseys after Nets win over Heat
Kyrie Irving and Bam Adebayo weren’t allowed to exchange their jerseys after the Brooklyn Nets win over the Miami Heat.
The Brooklyn Nets faced off against the Miami Heat last night in the latter end of a back-to-back for the Nets. The Nets finally clinched their first win with all three of their superstars taking to the court. James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving combined for 71 points to spoil Bam Adebayo’s 42 points, which is a career high for the big man.
Kevin Durant led the squad with 31 points, while Kyrie Irving had 28 on 59% shooting from the field. James Harden pitched in with a double double, recording 12 points and 11 assists.
Security stops Kyrie Irving and Bam Adebayo from exchanging jerseys
Bam Adebayo has definitely taken some strides in game this 2020-21 NBA season. He’s extended his range and has hence gotten a deeper bag, hitting step-back jumpers from the elbow at a respectable rate.
The Brooklyn Nets defense is allowing too many players to notch their career high in points against them. Collin Sexton had a career high 42 points against them a few nights back. Bam followed suit and had his own 42 point night.
To commemorate the career high, Kyrie Irving and Bam Adebayo decided to switch jerseys following the Miami Heat loss. However, as they were about to, Heat security intervened. Due to health and safety protocols, they were not allowed to swap jerseys with one another.

A multitude of fans took to social media to express their confusion over how jersey swapping could lead to contracting COVID after both Bam and Kyrie have been in close proximity with one another for 48 minutes.
The rule the NBA has put into place is that they monitor how long two players interact with one another. Their threshold at the moment is 15 minutes. If they find two players in close proximity with one another for 15 minutes or more, the league tends to take action.
