“Like LeBron James vs Michael Jordan”: NFL great and announcer Tony Romo compares Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl to basketball GOATs
Tony Romo made the comparison every NBA and NFL fan will debate furiously: Michael Jordan vs LeBron James is like Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes.
Romo has arguably made a broadcasting career that is better than what he achieved as a player. In 13 seasons with the Cowboys, the quarterback had statistics befitting a Hall of Famer. But his lack of postseason success means he’s likely never getting inducted there.
But his perfect breakdowns of plays and amazing microphone voice has won him millions of new fans. Romo is the new gold standard for broadcasting in the NFL, and with good reason. Along with an intimate knowledge of the game, Romo’s voice is becoming iconic.

The Chiefs and Buccaneers made their way to the Super Bowl with Conference championship wins over the Bills and the Packers today, respectively. The Chiefs are spearheaded by reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, who’s also won the MVP trophy in the past.
Tom Brady, on the other hand, is the consensus GOAT for the NFL. He cemented this status with his 5th Super Bowl win, and built on it with his 6th. Now, Brady is in his 10th Super Bowl, and the gap between him and the field seems to be widening further.
“Talk about your all-time matchups, right. This is literally going to be like LeBron James or Michael Jordan, right, playing in the [NBA] Finals. I mean it’s unbelievable,” Romo said during the last four minutes of the Chiefs’ 38-24 win.

While Michael Jordan and LeBron James never faced each other like Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, the comparison is apt. Mahomes has started his career with better stats than Brady, but he faces a stiff task in matching him for team success.
