“I do not understand how good drivers have to pay to race” – Former Red Bull driver disillusioned with the current generation of Formula 1
“I do not understand how good drivers have to pay to race” – Former Red Bull family driver expresses disillusionment with the current generation of Formula 1.
Jaime Alguersuari was in Formula 1 briefly with the Red Bull family, racing for Toro Rosso. When asked by Marca about his experience there, he chose to thank them for helping him race in F1.
“I owe everything to Red Bull. Without their help, I would never have reached F1. The ways afterward were what it was, and we have to accept it and turn the page.”

Formula 1 very different from how it was before – Red Bull
Alguersuari has since moved to Formula E before now finally becoming a DJ. But he has no intentions of returning back to the sport. According to him, the F1 world has changed drastically where weirdly, drivers are being made to pay to race in teams.
“I no longer contemplate it [returning to F1]. I no longer belong to F1, far from it. It has changed a lot since then and more and more. It is not for me. I don’t understand the rules of the game, because I do not understand how good drivers have to pay to race.
“Everything has changed a lot. I do not contemplate that there are parents of drivers who own teams. The values of sport are not what I understood. It’s okay, it’s not a drama. You just look away to be happy. There are many drivers who make their careers in other categories and they are happy in the end everyone tries to find their place.”
