“Jayson Tatum gets on SportsCenter’s Top 10 with this one”: Celtics forward channels his inner LeBron James to feed Robert Williams with insane behind-the-back assist in loss against Lakers
Celtics’ star forward Jayson Tatum absolutely lit up the Lakers with one of the best passes of the young NBA season so far.
The Celtics took on the Lakers tonight at the TD Garden in their first matchup of this season. They had emasculated the Lakers 139-106 in the same fixture on MLK Day last year. This game was a whole lot closer between the two teams this time around.
Kemba Walker had a wretched shooting game, and was just 1-of-9 at the start of the 4th quarter. This left the other star Celtics to pick up the slack, and the Jays did not disappoint. By the start of the final period, Jaylen Brown had 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Jayson Tatum, on the other hand, had 22 on 8-of-14 shooting from the field.
The Celtics look likely to blow this game, given how LeBron James has taken over in the final period and how Marcus Smart got injured at the start of the 4th.
Jayson Tatum makes incredible pass to Robert Williams on the break
In one of the final possessions of the 3rd quarter, the Lakers messed up big-time on offense. A wayward behind-the-back pass from LeBron James went waywardly behind Anthony Davis. It seemed destined to go out, but in this, Jayson Tatum found a great opportunity.
He converged on the ball at the sideline, collected it, wrapped it around and threw a perfect forward pass to the onrushing Robert Williams. The pass was right on the money, and Williams was able to dunk it home easily despite a late challenge from AD.

At the time of writing, the Celtics led their rival Lakers and LeBron James by a margin of 85-83. The game is simply too close to call, since both teams have great closers and a clutch gene to boot. Tatum and Brown will be doing the bulk of the heavy lifting for the Cs.
