Max Verstappen at the age of 23 has been carrying the weight of a team like Red Bull is astonishing, and seeing his rise, it would be fatal for the Austrian side to lose him to a rival like Mercedes and Ferrari.

Tom Coronel advised Red Bull that to keep their long term prospect happy, they have to offer him more before a rival team grabs him in the coming years.

‘If they want to keep Max, they will have to give him more than they have given him in recent years. But everyone has the same focus.’ Max Verstappen said to Motorsport.com.

‘They know where they are winning it, and they also know where they are losing it. In this, I see the focus of Red Bull, together with Max.’

Amidst this intervention, Coronel has claimed that he sees a more competitive battle against Mercedes for the championship title, as Sergio Perez’s arrival has bolstered Red Bull.

‘I see this as a season where we can finally see a title fight at the front again, where we don’t just see Max winning on occasion,’ he added. Meanwhile, it is also important to consider the transition set to take place in Mercedes.

Mercedes is setting its eyes to a future after Hamilton, as the 36-year-old driver is at the twilight of his career. But at the same time, the Briton was a key member in the ensemble.

His minimal errors on the track always helped Mercedes keeping the domination intact, and it is hard to expect similar consistency from some other driver. Hence, it would require patience and the right decisions at the right time to enforce a fluent change.
