“Kyle Kuzma would be starting if he was a Klutch client”: Skip Bayless slyly accuses LeBron James of dictating Lakers’ starting lineups this season
Skip Bayless appeared to suggest yet again that LeBron James is running the GM show for the Lakers, citing Kyle Kuzma.
Kuzma is one of the most inconsistent players on the Lakers roster. In his 4th year now, Kuzma has become a much better defender from the matador he used to be.
His offense needs to evolve a great deal for him to be a consistent scorer though. The 25-year-old hasn’t added much to his rookie year skillset. There are times when he can drive Lakers fans and teammates crazy with his boneheaded plays. But usually, he’s a great guy to bring off the bench for his energy, if nothing else.
But with LeBron James and Anthony Davis occupying the forward spots this season, there is no room for Kuzma to be a starter. The 4th-year player will need to ride the bench for longer – something Skip Bayless says is a problem created by James and Klutch Sports.
‘Kyle Kuzma would be starting if he was a Klutch client’: Skip Bayless
Kuzma has been on a pretty good stretch in the past week or so for the Lakers. This is rallying a lot of people to his side after his abysmal playoff performances in the bubble. One of those is Skip Bayless, though not for reasons that Kuzma would necessarily like.
Skip indicated in a post-game tweet yet again that LeBron James is running the Lakers through Klutch Sports. This is what his tweet reads as: “Nice comeback by Lakers from early 20-pt deficit, led by Kuzma (20 & 10), who should be starting. But then, HE’S not a Klutch client.”

If we go by Skip’s words, it seems to indicate that he’d want Kentavious Caldwell-Pope out of the starting lineup. Now that would be a preposterous thing for the Lakers to do especially this season.
KCP has been on fire from downtown, ranking as a top 20 shooter in the league by percentage in the season so far. He did have a dip on the shooting front of late, cooling down to 44.6% from the unsustainable 50+% he started the year with.
