“James Harden, you’re the point guard and I’m the 2-guard”: Kyrie Irving’s message to former Rockets star after he joined the Brooklyn Nets

‘You play the point guard and I’ll play the shooting guard’: Kyrie Irving and James Harden figured out how to play together on the Nets.

On Saturday night, the Nets managed to defeat Stephen Curry and his Warriors 134-117. Irving finished with 23 points, Durant had 20 points and Harden finished with a 19-point and 16-assists double-double in the win.

Post-game Irving was speaking to the reporters about the change in position that Harden and Irving discussed:

“I feel like he’s just been doing a great job of just managing the point guard role. We established that maybe four days ago now — I just looked at him and I said, ‘You’re the point guard, and I’m going to play shooting guard.’ That was as simple as that.”

“So, he’s been taking control of the responsibilities and doing an incredible job. It just makes my job to just go out and play free and just make plays. So, it’s a luxury.”

Kyrie Irving says he and James Harden have figured out how to play together:

‘I knew this team had two special scorers’: James Harden took on the role of point guard effortlessly

It was Kevin Durant first game back to the Bay Arena since leaving the Golden State Warriors. He managed to give his former team a hard loss.

The Nets big three scored or assisted on 100 points. In the process, Harden became the first player with multiple games of at least 15 points and 15 assists. He spoke to the reporters about the success of swapping positions between him and Irving:

“I came to this team know they have two special scorers on this team. Obviously, I’ll score when I need to. But, as long I’m getting everybody involved and Kyrie is getting the shots that he wants, KD is getting the shots that he wants, it’s pretty efficient.”

After a three-game losing streak, the Nets have won two games in a row. The Nets have managed to maintain a decent record despite some early on struggles. They now sit on the third position of the Eastern Conference with a 16-12 record.
