Is Kyrie Irving playing tonight vs Lakers? Brooklyn Nets release back injury report ahead of showdown against LeBron James and co

The Brooklyn Nets released an injury update for Kyrie Irving concerning tonight’s game against the Lakers. Kyrie missed last game with a back problem.

In what may be an NBA Finals preview, the Brooklyn Nets will be facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight. The showdown may not be as bombastic as expected, however, as superstars slated to show up have been etched out for the night due to injuries. 

Both Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant have been ruled out for the game. Anthony Davis had an MRI conducted on himself this past Monday and it was revealed that the big man is suffering from a right calf strain. Kevin Durant on the other hand will miss his third straight game due to a left strained hamstring.

Now, Kyrie Irving has also been placed on the injury report going into tonight’s game. 

Is Kyrie Irving playing tonight against LeBron James and the Lakers?

Kyrie Irving missed Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns which featured James Harden dropping 38 points and the dagger 3 to ice the game for the Nets. He was seen in spirits on the bench, however, celebrating the Nets’ come-from-behind victory. 

Irving has been dealing with back tightness and is the reason why he missed the Suns game earlier this week. It is also the reason that necessitates his presence on the injury report for tonight as well.

The Brooklyn Nets have the shooting guard listed as probable, which would technically mean he has a 75% chance of suiting up tonight. Kyrie’s presence would be a significant boost for the Nets, who’re riding high after a spirited comeback win over the Suns.

This would be the 13th meeting between LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, if the latter does decide to play. LeBron James leads the series against Irving, 10-2. 

Kyrie Irving has been on fire this season, averaging 28.3 points on 53% shooting from the field. He’s also lighting it up from beyond the arc as he’s shooting 44% from 3.
