“What a performance”: Harbhajan Singh lauds Axar Patel for picking 6-wicket haul in Ahmedabad Test vs England
Harbhajan Singh lauds Axar Patel: The veteran Indian spinner took to social media platform Twitter to appreciate the all-rounder.
During the first day of the third Test of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Ahmedabad, India bundled out England for 112 in 48.4 overs after visiting captain Joe Root won the toss and elected to bat.
England’s shambolic batting performance made the pitch seem like a rank-turner from Day 1 but it wasn’t the case. It is worth mentioning that the visiting batsmen continually failed to read the length of the ball to the extent that they were seen playing back on fuller deliveries.
Playing only his second Test, all-rounder Axar Patel justified India captain Virat Kohli’s decision to bring him as a first-change bowler ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin. On his home ground, the left-arm spinner deceived the English batsmen at will.
Patel, who registered bowling figures of 21.4-6-38-6, bowled to the best of his abilities which were evident when he turned the ball into the away from the batsman with the same action and from the same trajectory.
Having become only the third Indian bowler to pick a couple of five-wicket hauls in his first two Tests, Patel was seen dismissing the likes of Jonny Bairstow (0), Zac Crawley (53), Ben Stokes (6), Jofra Archer (11), Stuart Broad (3) and Ben Foakes (12).
