Donovan Mitchell answers how he handles critics like Shaquille O’Neal as Joe Ingles jokes: “I only care about my teammates’ opinions”
Jazz’ star guard Donovan Mitchell talks about how he handles critics like Shaquille O’Neal as Joe Ingles chips in with a comic moment.
The Utah Jazz were quick in their attempts to get back to winning ways. After losing a game against the Heat on Friday, the Jazz came out strong against the Magic last night. The Jazz beat the Magic 124-109.
Donovan Mitchell led the way with his 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. Spida caught fire in the second half, and propelled the Jazz to victory. The win improves their already NBA-best record to 27-7.
The Magic tried to hold their ground but were no match for the team with the best record in the league. Nikola Vucevic put up a game-high 34 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
“I only care about the guys in the locker room”: Donovan Mitchell
Earlier in the season, Spida was unnecessarily targetted by Shaquille O’Neal. The Jazz were 11-4 at that point. Ever since then, they have gone 16-3, and Donovan Mitchell has been a significant reason behind the same.
After the game, Spida was asked by the media about how he handles critics, such as Shaquille O’Neal. Spida started to answer, and said, “The only opinions I care about are the guys in the locker room.” Before he could continue his answer, Joe Ingles interrupted him with his best impression of Shaq.
Earlier, as Donovan was answering a question about dealing with critics such Shaq, Joe interrupted from offscreen:
Joe: I don’t think you’re a superstar.
Don: That’s fair.
Joe: Hahahaha! https://t.co/dz5zeYPNvB— Eric Walden (@tribjazz) February 28, 2021
Whether it is channeling his energy into the court, or something else, Mitchell is handling the whole thing very maturely. He has been the best player on the best team in the league right now. He still is only in his 4th year and is getting better every season.
Joe Ingles voices his opinion about Shaq’s ‘superstar’ comments
Joe Ingles had defended his teammate when Shaq made his initial comments as well. When he crashed Mitchell’s presser last night, he was asked to share what he thought about Shaq’s comments.
In his response, Joe said the media doesn’t want him to answer the question, as they wouldn’t be able to use it.
Joe Ingles interrupted Donovan Mitchell’s postgame presser and was asked about Shaq’s ‘superstar’ comments.
“You don’t want me to answer this question, you guys won’t be able to report it because it would be in explicit language, and you guys would get into trouble. ”

Joe Ingles is a great teammate and him sticking up for Spida against a big like Shaq like this really says a lot.
