“LaMelo Ball calls Michael Jordan ‘Unc'”: Hornets rookie has nicknamed his franchise owner in familiar fashion
LaMelo Ball revealed that he calls Michael Jordan by the nickname ‘Unc’ in a really humorous interview with Hornets media.
The Hornets guard has settled into life in Charlotte like a custom-made glove. He is the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year honors at the moment. Thus far, LaMelo has averaged 16.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.
Melo’s stats as a starter are even better – he’s averaging 19.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. He’s also shooting 43% from downtown on 6.3 attempts per game as a starter in this time.
All of these stats point to his excellence as a 19-year-old rookie and put him in historic company. Melo has also had a really positive impact on team chemistry – every one of his Hornets teammates loves playing alongside him.
LaMelo is also bringing smiles back to the faces of Hornets fans with his mischievous comments.
LaMelo Ball apparently addresses Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan is now 58 years old, so he’s a couple of generations removed from this year’s one-and-done rookie class. This qualifies him as the cool uncle who hangs out with them. Or so LaMelo Ball would lead you to believe.
The youngest Ball brother addresses Michael Jordan as ‘Unc’, as he revealed in a short Hornets interview clip during the broadcast of their game against the Lakers.

The Ball brother can get away with this for as long as he wants if his play continues to trend up. Drafting him seems to be MJ’s best draft decision in his time as the Hornets owner.
