Kendrick Perkins rips Jayson Tatum and co apart for lack of effort: “The Boston Celtics need to stop complaining about calls and get back on defense!”

Kendrick Perkins goes off on Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics for their lackluster performances and attitude towards defense. 

After having gone to 3 of the last 4 Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Celtics entered the 2020-21 NBA season with expectations of a similar amount of success.

However, over 40 games down the hatch, it has become apparent that this iteration of the Celtics might not get past the first round of the playoffs, if they even make it to the postseason that is. 

Teams that were considered borderline lottery teams coming into this season, such as the Charlotte Hornets and New York Knicks, have been flat-out better than the Celtics. This lack of production from Boston’s side can be attributed to a number of reasons, not just limited to on-court chemistry.

Big Perk seems to be less than impressed with how the Celtics have been approaching their last few games. Having lost to the Milwaukee Bucks last night, 121-119, they have now lost 5 of their last 6 games. 

“The Celtics don’t have any chemistry and their lack of effort on the defensive end is disturbing to watch. Stop complaining about calls and get back in transition. My God!”

Boston’s troubles go far beyond their lack of effort on the defensive end of the floor. For starters, the Tristan Thompson experiment has been an absolute disaster. His unwillingness to commit to a title run with the team, coupled with his extremely active social life during the pandemic has caused the locker room to have a certain distaste for him. 

Marcus Smart, though he shares a close connection with Danny Ainge and the Celts front office, has been included in trade rumors for a while now. This would be taxing on any player’s mind, especially with the trade deadline almost here. Not to mention the clear disconnect between the Celts’ young players and the veterans. 

The Celtics have been active in mid-season talks for guys like Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier, and could be willing to give up Marcus Smart in a package for them.
