“Tried to make Klay Thompson a Laker, but damn Warriors got to him first”: Mychal Thompson rueful about not being able to lure his son to LeBron James’ camp as a free agent
Former NBA Player and Klay Thompson’s father Mychal Thompson shares Klay’s childhood photo in a Lakers’ hoodie
The Golden State Warriors ended their 4 game winning streak tonight, as they fell short to the Boston Celtics 119-114. In the clutch moments of the game, Stephen Curry was let down by his teammates.
It is times like these when the Warriors’ fans miss Klay Thompson more than ever. Klay has been known to rise up in clutch time and prove as a reliable option in the pressure situations.
However, Klay is currently sitting out his second straight season. After managing a successful ACL rehab, Klay ended up tearing his Achilles while practicing before the season started. This put Klay out for a second straight season.
The Dubs are doing better than most expected, riding on Stephen Curry’s brilliance. However, good news for the Dubs fans is that Klay’s rehab is going as per schedule, and is set to be ready before the start of the next season.
Mychal Thompson shares how he wanted Klay Thompson to be a Laker
Mychal Thompson, who won two rings with the Lakers, wanted the same for his son. Even though Klay has found tremendous success with the Dubs, and overshadowed his father with three rings of his own, Mychal still isn’t content.
He wanted Klay to follow in his footsteps, and play for the Purple and Gold. Mychal has not shied away from sharing this opinion of his publicly, as he was vocally upset when Klay was offered the contract extension by the Dubs.
He posted a throwback post on Twitter, where a young Klay can be seen in a Lakers hoodie.
See? I TRIED to make him one…But the Dam Warriors got to him first… pic.twitter.com/CjxJYWzCeL

However much Mychal may try, it doesn’t seem like Klay is going anywhere. Klay would most likely finish his career as a Warrior, just like his Splash brother Steph.
