KKR vs CSK Man of the Match: As many as four players could’ve easily won the Man of the Match in this cliffhanger match tonight.

During the 15th match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai, Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 18 runs in a high-scoring thriller.

Chasing a 221-run target, Knight Riders were reduced to 31/5 inside the powerplay as Super Kings seamer Deepak Chahar picked a four-wicket haul for the second time this season.

Just when a majority of people would’ve considered the match to be over, Knight Riders’ Andre Russell (54) and Pat Cummins (66*) scored individual half-centuries to keep their team in the match on the back of multiple gargantuan sixes at the Wankhede Stadium. With vice-captain Dinesh Karthik also scoring a stroke-filled 40 (24), Kolkata went on to score 202/10 in 19.1 overs.

After Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and invited Super Kings in to bat, the Dhoni-led team posted a formidable 220/3 in 20 overs on the back of a 115-run opening partnership between Faf du Plessis (95*) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (64).

Having played throughout the innings for his 38th T20 half-century, du Plessis was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award. The 36-year old batsman, who scored nine fours and four sixes in his 17th IPL half-century, once again proved as to why he still remains a dominating force at Super Kings.

“It was the most fluent I’ve felt so far. I felt in the previous game things started to tick better and today felt technically better. It’s just the rhythm of the flow of the hands. Lucky to play under MS for a long time. He knows what he’s doing,” du Plessis told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
