“I love it when defenders tell me to stop running off the ball”: Warriors superstar Stephen Curry reveals the biggest compliment the opponents give him
Warriors legend Stephen Curry reveals the biggest compliment his opponents give him whenever he gets on their nerves.
Stephen Curry is unarguably the greatest shooter of all time. What the two-time MVP has achieved in his 11-year career, is beyond measurable. With the way he uses the three-point line, he has completely revolutionized how the game of basketball is played today.
Players have to guard Curry as soon as he crosses the half-court thanks to his unlimited range. Despite all preventive measures taken to stop Steph, he still manages to drop an insane number of points on any team on any given night.
People often give Curry credits for his incredible shooting, finishing around the hoop and even his handles. But what one often tends to forget is the 7-time All-Star’s ability to play off the ball. Curry is often seen continuously running even without the ball. He manages to weave through various screens to get himself an open look at the rim.
In a recent interview, Curry mentioned that the biggest compliment that a defender could give him was to stop running around so much. Steph added why he loved this compliment:
“The compliment I love is – when guys tell me to stop running around so much when they’re defending me. That’s a testament to being in great shape and being able to play at that level for however long I’m out there.”

“Steph is just so good without the ball”: Warriors coach Steve Kerr
There is absolutely no doubting Curry’s insanely deep offensive arsenal. Even if Steph is having a cold shooting night from behind the arc, he can go off, scoring jumpers and layups from within the three-point line.
As Warriors head coach has previously also mentioned, the two-time three-point contest winner never stops moving, creating chaos and defensive breakdowns. Kerr to the media:
“I think Steph has changed the definition of a point guard. There’s no question that you call him a combo because he’s so good off the ball.”
The wizardry that Stephen Curry has been doing at 33-years of age is commendable. Being able to average 34.1 minutes per game, while constantly running around, dropping 31.3 points per game is absolutely mesmerising.
