“Stop comparing Kevin Durant to LeBron James”: Shannon Sharpe tears apart debate for who the best NBA player is
Shannon Sharpe calls out Richard Jefferson for pandering to Nets star Kevin Durant while comparing him to LeBron James.
Kevin Durant needs to be brought up in conversations for top 5 players all-time far more than he does. The Nets star is a 6’10” sniper. His handles at his height are ridiculous. And his overall IQ and feel for the game make him that much greater as a player.
Many remember his time with the Golden State Warriors, where he was a part of arguably the most talented team ever assembled. The franchise was the closest thing to unstoppable and even humiliated LeBron James in two consecutive finals.
Due to those years, there has been a public perception of Durant being somewhat invincible as a player as well. While many have been happy to accept it or move on, Shannon Sharpe has apparently had enough. And recently, he let out a very interesting rant on the topic.

Shannon Sharpe believes Kevin Durant has been overhyped by fans after his time on the Warriors
Shannon Sharpe is starting to make a name for himself in the NBA community. The former NFL star now features alongside fellow analyst Skip Bayless on the show ‘Undisputed’. In the most recent episode of the show, Richard Jefferson’s comments about Kevin Durant were brought up.
The former player turned ESPN analyst essentially said that, despite him having LeBron James on his team, he was still scared of facing the Slim Reaper in the NBA. And, while many laughed this one-off, it seems Sharpe wasn’t entirely happy with what was said.

To be fair to the Undisputed host, he does have a point. Kevin Durant was never invincible alone. He had the services of two of the top 3 shooters of all time, while also being aided by a loaded Warriors bench when he needed rest. There is a reason the Warriors’ mantra was ‘Strength in Numbers’ at the time.
However, we will say that Sharpe is perhaps underselling the ability of Durant just a tad bit. No matter how loaded that team was, the former OKC man was clearly the best player on the team. And when it comes to his comparisons with LeBron James, it will be interesting to see if they can settle it once and for all in NBA Finals 2021.
