“Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas are the two greatest point guards of all time”: Kendrick Perkins snubs Stephen Curry, gets flamed by NBA fans
Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas are two giants of NBA history, but so is Stephen Curry. However, Kendrick Perkins ranks Steph below the other two.
Big Perk seems to have perfected the art of manufacturing one hot take after another. His aim has been unerring through the course of his short career as a talking head.
It all began with a diss of Kevin Durant – his former teammate – on live TV. It’s now transformed into just being a contrarian, whatever the topic of discussion might be. Perkins doesn’t even care about contradicting his own words from a while ago while adopting this route.
Now, calling Magic Johnson the greatest point guard of all time is hardly a controversial statement. It’s the inclusion of Isiah Thomas over Stephen Curry that seems to be problematic for most fans.
The debate for second place in the all-time point guard rankings involves several players through every generation of NBA basketball. Jerry West, Stephen Curry, Oscar Robertson, Isiah, John Stockton, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook can all make some sort of case or other.
Kendrick Perkins names Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas as his top 2 PGs of all time
First Take brought up all-time point guard rankings as one of the show’s talking points today. It felt as though Kendrick Perkins was trying to glibly slip in Isiah Thomas as if viewers wouldn’t notice him:
“In my opinion, it’s Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas and the rest fall where they may. Russell Westbrook, when it’s all said and done, he is a top-five point guard to ever play the game of basketball.”
It’s @MagicJohnson and @IsiahThomas are the Top 2 PGs of All-Time and then it’s everyone else!!! Carry the hell on… https://t.co/si9HfLSicz

NBA Twitter trolls Big Perk for his asinine take regarding Stephen Curry
It fell to NBA Twitter to finish the lob, and they did their part to smash it in.

This particular reply was definitely the funniest of all given the context. Perkins had ‘apologized’ to Steph after one of his incredible, 10 3-pointer games in April. Our man did not fail to notice the dichotomy between those comments and his most recent takes.
I knew another media person would just repeat being bipolar pic.twitter.com/a6I81NL3gX

It’s safe to say that Kendrick Perkins, much like Skip and Stephen A and Nick Wright and Colin Cowherd and every other sports talk show host out there, has become a man baiting people for clips.
