“I’m coming back like Houdini”: Anthony Edwards vows to spend the offseason improving his skills after a Rookie of the Year campaign
Anthony Edwards has been a revelation in his rookie year. The Timberwolves’ 19-year-old has vowed to come back even stronger next year.
Edwards and LaMelo Ball are neck-and-neck in this year’s Rookie of the Year race. Edwards has the advantage of his availability and slightly superior scoring punch on his side. Melo, on the other hand, has been an all-around sensation for Michael Jordan and his Hornets.
It wasn’t long back that the Chino Hills product was considered a lock for Rookie of the Year honors. However, his 6-week hiatus due to a wrist problem has now pegged Melo back significantly in this race.
But the Georgia product, meanwhile, can hardly rest on his laurels. He’s had a good rookie year, but it’s not been something earth-shattering. Edwards has a ton of growing up to do both on offense and defense – but specifically and more importantly on D.
His 18.3 points per game scoring average notwithstanding, Anthony Edwards also needs to add finesse to his offense. A field goal percentage of 40% and 3-point percentage of 31.7% isn’t going to cut it for somebody looking to be an NBA star.
Anthony Edward vows to come back like Houdini next year
The 20-year-old seems to have identified the areas of improvement that he’ll focus on, this offseason. But Edwards knows that he can’t claim something and then not be able to do it.
So it makes sense that when reporters ask him his plans for the offseason, he’s been deflecting expertly. Ant Man went straight savage in his most recent interview, vowing to come back like Houdini: “I ain’t telling nobody. I wanna come back like Houdini.”
Anthony Edwards when asked about the one thing that he’s most looking forward to working on this offseason:

If Edwards came come back with an improved jump shot, his driving and facilitating game will take a huge facelift. It’ll definitely be a matter of improving his mechanics as well as his decision-making.
