“I Thought He Was Fantastic”: Kyle Trask Impresses Bruce Arians In Buccaneers Rookie Mini Camp

Kyle Trask may not be looking to start anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean the Bucs won’t work on developing him for the future. It looks like Trask is already turning heads.

Trask was drafted by Tampa Bay in the second round of the 2021 draft, playing for the Florida Gators in college. Of course, he’s a long-term project with Tom Brady still in the fold. However, the Bucs do want him to be ready at some point.

In his second day at rookie minicamp, Trask impressed head coach Bruce Arians. His intelligence is what stood out the most.

Kyle Trask Shines In Buccaneers Mini Camp

Trask looked incredibly accurate and good with the ball in his second day. He completed almost all of his passes in seven on seven drills as he went 7 for 8. His lone incompletion was a dropped catch on a short crossing route.

In 11 on 11 drills, Task kept up his hot streak. He completed 5 of 8 passes, and he even showed some keen pocket awareness.

Instead of trying to play hero ball, Trask smartly threw the ball away on one play to avoid a sack. Those are the kinds of things veterans struggle with, so it’s good to see that Trask is getting this down early in his career.

Arians was more than thrilled with the way Trask played. He was happy his quarterback was taking the challenge of being groomed by multiple coaches around him and kept going no matter what. Arians remarked:

“I thought he did fantastic. He’s got three guys coaching the [expletive] out of him every play, so they need to calm down and let him go. Really pleased with him and where he’s at right now.”

He was collected while reading coverages, and despite a few miscues, handled the spot pretty well. Here’s a look at some of the throws he made in camp, including some that came on disguised coverages.
