“Stephen Curry is the MVP, no debate”: Ja Morant endorses Warriors superstar for his 3rd trophy after losing to his 46-point outburst
Ja Morant found himself thoroughly outplayed on both ends by Stephen Curry today, which is why he’s campaigning for Steph’s MVP.
The Grizzlies faced the Warriors in a spirited fight for the 8th seed today. It was a much-anticipated game in which the Warriors blew it open in the 3rd quarter and never looked back.
Memphis found themselves floundering on the offensive end in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Jaren Jackson Jr, Ja Morant and Kyle Anderson all had poor nights offensively. None of their shooters were able to keep up with the pace set by the Warriors.
The Grizzlies were able to only tally 40 points in 24 minutes after the first quarter. This ensured that they were run off the court by the dominance of Stephen Curry.
Ja Morant calls Stephen Curry the MVP
Steph secured the 2nd scoring title of his career at the age of 33 today. His outing against the Grizzlies was pretty special for an end-of-season seeding game. Curry kept raining shots on the Grizzlies, who had no answer for this shooting barrage by the 2-time MVP.
Steph finished the night taking 36 shots for his 46 points. His total of 46 points helped him finish the season with a scoring average of 32 points per game. He’s the oldest player in league history since Jordan to win the scoring title.
What Steph has achieved this year is nothing short of historic, especially given the context of his performances. This is the reason why a ton of NBA players and fans are viewing him as the league’s most valuable player of the season.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s MVP-worthy over Nikola Jokic, but Steph at least has the backing of Ja. The 21-year-old posted that Steph deserves the award on his Twitter today.
MVP. no debate ‼️ https://t.co/W4H5WvIVHB

MVP or not, Steph deserve kudos for his unreal performances for Golden State in leading them to the 8th seed and a 39-33 record over the course of a tumultuous, Covid-affected year.
