“He’s tested negative”: Gary Stead confirms KKR’s Tim Seifert has recovered from COVID-19; set to leave India soon

New Zealand and Kolkata Knight Riders wicket-keeper batsman has tested negative for COVID-19 and will be on a flight to New Zealand according to New Zealand head coach Gary Stead.
Seifert, who was the third KKR player to contact the virus in Ahmedabad, continued to remain in India while his fellow countrymen left the country in two groups heading to Maldives and back home.
Other than Seifert, the likes of Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier and Prasidh Krishna had also tested positive for coronavirus in the now-postponed 14th season of the Indian Premier League.
Seifert, who is yet to make his IPL debut, has been with the Knight Riders since IPL 2020 when he was roped in as a replacement for USA fast bowler Ali Khan.

Speaking to reporters during a virtual media interaction from in the UK, Stead confirmed the update regarding Seifert’s health labeling it as a “great news” for the 26-year old player.
“I heard from Tim [Seifert] just a little while ago. I think the really encouraging thing is he’s tested negative and my understanding is he’s on a flight out of India pretty quickly as well.
“I don’t know how long it’s going to take him to get back to New Zealand or where he’s heading via, but it’s great news for Tim that for a start his health is on the improve anyway, to the point where he’s not testing positive anymore,” Stead told the reporters.
Seifert was eventually brought to Chennai where he received treatment in the same private facility like former Australia batsman and current Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey. Much like Seifert, 45-year old Hussey has also recovered and has already headed back to Australia.
