“Stephen Curry reminds me of ’06 Kobe Bryant”: Chris Bosh draws a strong comparison between the Warriors star’s current historic year to the Lakers legend’s 2006 season

Miami Heat legend Chris Bosh compares Stephen Curry’s current historic season to Lakers icon Kobe Bryant’s 2005-2006 season.

There is no denying Stephen Curry and his greatness. He is, unarguably, the best shooter the game has ever witnessed. Due to his impressive ability of consistently knocking down shots from virtually any spot of the hardwood, defenders guard him as soon as he crosses halfcourt.

Steph is great not only because of his on-court performances and accolades but also because of the way he has managed to transform how modern basketball is played.

Just before the start of the 2020-2021 campaign, Klay Thompson tore his Achilles, resulting in him sitting out one more season. Due to this, most of the offensive burden fell on Chef Curry’s shoulders.

However, Curry has very courageous responded well to all the load that fell on him. Carrying the team’s offence, Steph has been torching every team, getting buckets at will.

The Warriors guard’s historic season got a lot of comparisons, some understandable while some being pretty wild. However, Miami Heat legend Chris Bosh has a rather interesting comparison for the GSW unanimous MVP, comparing him to the great Kobe Bryant’s unforgettable 2005-2006 season.

Back in 2005-2006, Kobe Bryant had one of his best seasons, from an individual perspective. He led the league in scoring with an astonishing 35.4 points per game. The Mamba took a very mediocre team to the playoffs, grabbing the 7th seed and almost beating the Steve Nash-led 2nd seed Phoenix Suns.

This year, Stephen Curry too had his career-best NBA season. The Baby Faced Assassin also has led the league in points scored and is trying to clinch the 7th seed in the playoffs, hoping to defeat the 2nd seed Phoenix Suns team. Clearly, Bosh has done his research well and given a spot-on comparison. Bosh further lauded Curry:

“The way that he’s been playing the last month of the season has been very reminiscent of ’06 Kobe.”

“His shooting is unbelievable, I’ve never seen anything like it. He’s a master of his craft. Not only that, he’s very unselfish. He gets his teammates involved. You can tell guys love playing with him.”

Stephen Curry has managed to put up some MVP-level numbers this season, averaging 32 points, 5.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Despite how legendary this season was for Curry, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is more likely to win the prestigious Most Valuable Player award. It is only a matter of time before we see how entertaining Curry and co. manage to make the first-ever play-in tournament.
