“I really want Lonzo Ball to come back”: Zion Williamson hopes that the Pelicans point guard stays in New Orleans ahead of free agency
Amid trade talks, Zion Williamson believes it would be “dope” if Lonzo Ball decided to stay with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The New Orleans Pelicans is one of the younger teams in the league. Behind the leadership of the inexperienced Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson, the team definitely has a bright future ahead.
Fans expected Zion Williamson to have an instant impact on the team’s success as soon as he joined the league. What people keep forgetting is that the phenom is just a 20-year-old kid with a lot of expectations to meet. Not making the postseason for two consecutive seasons, is somewhat considered a failure for the New Orleans organization.
However, one of the positive takeaways that the Pels can take from this 2020-2021 campaign would be the drastic improvement in Lonzo Ball’s game. Ball have had a few ups and downs throughout his young NBA career.
This season too, Zo off started the season a bit weak, however, he heated up as the All-Star break approached. Though the 6-foot-6 guard isn’t what Magic Johnson marketed him to be, Ball has shown great potential to be an All-Star.

“I want Lonzo Ball to stay here at New Orleans Pelicans”: Zion Williamson
Throughout the course of this season, the eldest Ball brother has been hearing his name among the trade rumours. Many even believed that the 23-year-old could end up with the Clippers, Nuggets, Knicks or even the Bulls. However, the guard finished out his 2nd complete season with the Pels, failing to make the postseason.
This offseason will be important for Ball to make an important decision as he approaches restricted free agency. Recently, Zo hinted to his fans how he would “love to be back” in New Orleans.
Zion Williamson was among the many who loved to hear this news. Calling it “dope” Zanos revealed how he would love for Ball to return. Williamson said:
“It’d be dope. Me, Brandon [Ingram] and Zo, the three of us have a great relationship. I really would want Zo to come back. He knows that. But you know, like I said, the reality of the situation is Zo is a grown man, so he’ll make the decision that’s best for him. The only thing I can say is, I hope he stays.”

Possibly coming off the best season of his career, Zo averaged 14.6 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds. Many teams would love having him in their lineup and would surely make the young guard an offer.
