IPL 2021 new schedule date: Where will remainder of IPL 2021 be conducted?
IPL 2021 new schedule date: The biggest T20 competition had be brought to a halt due to increasing COVID-19 cases earlier this month.
While there is nothing novel in the scheduling of an Indian Premier League season getting affected due to external reasons, the 14th season of the IPL has become the first one which will be played in two parts distanced not just by geographical locations but by a significant time frame as well.
Had it not been for COVID-19 positive players and support staff, the final of IPL 2021 would have been played tomorrow at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
IPL 2021 new schedule date
In the time since IPL 2021 was postponed, there had been numerous reports regarding the new venue and schedule of the second phase of IPL 2021.
In the SGM (Special General Meeting) of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) held today, it has been decided that the remainder of IPL 2021 will be played in the UAE. It is worth mentioning that this will be the third time (after 2014 and 2020) when the biggest T20 competition will move to the UAE.
As far as the exact dates of the second phase of IPL 2021 are concerned, the same are yet to be made public. Having said that, BCCI have mentioned that they are eyeing at the September-October window to complete the tournament. If the same happens, IPL 2021 will be played between India’s tour of England and the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
