“He spoke polished English, was perfectly fit, smart, and always full of energy” – Former Mercedes man on Michael Schumacher
“He spoke polished English, was perfectly fit, smart, and always full of energy” – Former Mercedes vice-president of motorsports Norbert Haug describes the legendary Michael Schumacher.
Norbert Haug was at Mercedes when Michael Schumacher made a comeback from his retirement to race for the German team. Haug, speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, predicted Schumacher would have made a top team boss, listing down his off-track qualities in the process.
“He [Schumacher] would have made the perfect top manager.
“In his personal development, Michael set no slower pace than on the racetrack. He spoke polished English, was perfectly fit, smart, and always full of energy.
“Michael was always empathetic in dealing with the mechanics and team members, he motivated everyone, knew birthday dates by heart, and asked about family and children.”

Ferrari driver coach all praise for Schumacher
Jock Clear, who currently mentors Charles Leclerc and cadets of the FDA, including Micheal Schumacher’s son Mick, was all praise for Micheal from his days at Mercedes. Clear has coached the likes of David Coulthard in the past, and was given the additional responsibility of the Ferrari Driver Academy earlier this season.
“Michael was exceptionally good at working with the team. He understood how to motivate people. Michael knew how to work with people, how to win people over and unite them.
“That’s how you win and he understood that in its entirety. In every aspect of what he did, he took control of the situation.”
