When we talk about the greatest basketball players to ever grace the league, Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan tops that list. For over 15 years, Jordan performed at the highest level and compiled one of the most illustrious resumes ever. Considered to be the basketball god, Mike was definitely one of the impactful players who had a surreal amount of influence on his fans.

Michael was known for the competitive spirit he played with and his crazy passion to win. These are what drove him to be the best version of himself, on any given day. Because of this Jordan retired as a 14-time All-Star, 6-time NBA champ, 6-time Finals MVP, 5-time MVP, Hall-Of-Famer and the GOAT.

We have heard numerous tales of MJ savagely hand buckets to any player defending him. Frankly, the Chicago Bulls guard didn’t care who was guarding him – a rookie, a veteran or even a future Hall-Of-Farmer, Air Jordan would want to mark his dominance on every player. However, there is one such instance we now know, when Michael decided to surprisingly be merciful and not go at it against his opponent.

“Michael Jordan could’ve scored on me, but he just passed the ball”: Scott Brooks

Several NBA enthusiasts know Scott Brooks as a long-time head coach. However, back in the 1990s, a 5-foot-11 Brooks played in the association for nearly ten seasons. While Brooks wasn’t a star, he did win a championship back in 1994.

The former Washington Wizards coach narrated a tale, from that one time, Michael Jordan decided to show a 23-year-old rookie some mercy. Scott revealed:

“I remember it almost like it was in slow motion. I said, ‘I cannot believe I’m guarding Michael Jordan.’ I said that like literally to myself as I’m guarding him.”

“The greatest thing is, he knew he could do whatever he wanted to do, but he just made a simple pass to the next guy over. He didn’t even try to score on me. So that’s my claim to fame.”

“He never trash-talked me, but I don’t think I was ever a concern for him. I don’t think I could ever get under his skin anyway. Why would he ever want to trash-talk me? He probably felt sorry for me.”

Out of all the several MJ anecdotes, we have heard, this Scott Brooks one is definitely one-of-its-kind. It seems abnormal that Jordan decided to spare a player of his mighty wrath. But even two decades after his retirement, Michael Jeffrey Jordan still continues to surprise us.
