“We must continue to develop the engine”– Honda is determined to give a gift to Red Bull before they part ways at the end of this year.

Even though Honda decided to part ways with Red Bull at the end of this year, the Japanese manufactures have shown their loyalty to the F1 team by giving them the best of services and not extending their services since 2019 to other constructors to reap more profits.

And now, while their trade in F1 is nearing an end, they are now determined to give a parting gift to Red Bull, by developing the engine to its maximum potential, as it will be used till 2025 amidst the engine freeze.

“That is what we are talking about,” Yamamoto said to Auto Hebdo, quoted by the Dutch edition of Motorsport.com. “Personally, I think it is sad that we are leaving the sport. I would have liked Honda to stay, but I respect and understand the decision that has been taken.

“I am convinced we did everything we could to compete with Mercedes. Red Bull has also given us the opportunity to make the most of our last season with this new engine.

“The engines are now very close to each other in terms of power. The differences now are mainly due to the track and the conditions. We must continue to develop the engine.”

New paths force exit from F1

Meanwhile, it was reported that Honda is moving away from F1 on the grounds of the company as a whole moving towards extended use of electrical technology in their cars. “We will be deploying more engineers for that,” said Yamamoto.

On the other hand, to assist Red Bull in their future without Honda, the latter has decided to leave some employees to give a hand to them in that, though it hasn’t been finalized yet.

“At the moment there are no concrete plans for the employees to transfer to Red Bull, but that could change at the end of the season,” he said.
