“Imagine Toure knowing what’s best for professional basketball”: Kevin Durant roasts journalist who claimed that the Playoffs won’t be good for the NBA
Nets superstar Kevin Durant calls out American Journalist/Writer ‘Toure’ for pretending to know whether the playoffs would be bad for the NBA
The NBA Playoffs are at the penultimate stage. What started with 16 teams is down to the final four teams. The matchups for the conference finals are ones that no one could have predicted at the start of the seasons. The Hawks and the Bucks would battle it out in the East. The Suns and the Clippers are fighting it out in the West.
While there is no shortage of stars in the playoffs, some of the biggest names in the NBA are out. Stars like Paul George, Chris Paul, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Trae Young are still in contention for their first title.
The Finals this season would be the first in a decade without LeBron James or Stephen Curry. Stars like Kevin Durant, James Harden are out as well.
Kevin Durant bashes Toure and dismisses his claims
Just like a lot of us had thought, 50-year-old journalist/writer Toure also thought the same way. Not having the staple stars who have had the league’s spotlight for over a decade would not be that profitable. He mentioned the same in his tweet.
Is this not a nightmare for the NBA? None of the big crossover stars are left in the playoffs—guys who casual basketball fans know and want to watch. No Lebron, Steph, Durant, Luka… Only one of the top 15 best-selling jerseys are still playing. This is not good for the league.

Kevin Durant came across this tweet and did not take it lightly. Despite getting knocked out of the playoffs, Durant respects his co-competitors. He bashed the author and made this tweet.

While Durant would have defended his fellow players, what the author said does make sense. Not having 14 out of your 15 top-selling players in the playoffs would cost a decrease in sales revenue, and might cause people to not watch the remainder of the playoffs. However, the 4 teams still fighting fought tooth and nail to be here, and the playoffs ahead of us would be nothing short of entertaining.
