“REFS COST CLIPPERS THE GAME!”: Skip Bayless blames the referees and their controversial calls for the Clippers losing a tight Game 4 at home
NBA Analyst and co-host of the Undefeated, Skip Bayless blasts the referees on Twitter, blames them for the Clippers losing tonight
The Los Angeles Clippers are in trouble. After taking a win in Game 3, it looked like the Clippers may seal both the home games, and go back on the road with the series all leveled. However, Chris Paul and co. had other plans. After a commanding first half, where they restricted the Clippers to just 36 points, the Suns got a bit careless in the second half. However, they never let the Clippers overtake them.
The Clippers, led by Paul George and his 23 points and 16 rebounds, cut the 16 points lead to as close as 1 but were never able to make the final push and take the lead. Reggie Jackson added 20 points, and Ivica Zubac recorded yet another double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Skip Bayless puts the blame for the loss on the referees
Today’s game was not the kind we are used to seeing in the current day NBA. This game wasn’t all focused on high-level offense, rather it was more defense-oriented. There were a lot of cases where the referee calls were very close and could have swung either way.
Skip Bayless was frustrated by the calls and did not shy away while talking about the same on Twitter. It all started when the refs missed a call on Mikal Bridges. He also brought up the controversial calls towards the end of Game 2 of the WCF.
No idea how that wasn’t a foul on Bridges. The league office obviously wants and needs the Suns in the Finals. That’s why the refs cost the Clippers Game 2.

Then there was the controversial out-of-bounds call in the final seconds of the game. The referees immediately called it off Nicholas Batum and did not even review it. Upon replays, it clearly showed it was off Payne, and if the refs had double-checked, the outcome of the game may have been different.
OFF CAMERON PAYNE. AT LEAST ESPN IS ACKNOWLEDGING IT THIS TIME. WHY WAS THAT NOT REVIEWED??? ANOTHER REFEREE ROBBERY.

Bayless concluded his referees’ rant, for the time being, with this tweet.
NO AND-ONE FOR TERANCE MANN WHEN BRIDGES CLEARLY FOULED HIM. NO REVIEW WHEN BATUM CLEARLY KNOCKED THE BALL OFF PAYNE’S HAND OUT OF BOUNDS NO TRAVELING CALLED ON CP3 WHEN HE CLEARLY WAS NOT FOULED AND JUST FELL DOWN. NICE JOB, REFS.

It would be interesting to see how the Clippers plan to dig themselves out of this 3-1 hole. They now head to Arizona for Game 5, which takes place on Monday.
