“Patrick Beverley was saying he ain’t afraid of Chris Paul”: Skip Bayless praises Clippers’ defensive ace for his antics and flagrant foul in Game 5 vs Suns

Skip Bayless believes that a fiery moment between Chris Paul and Patrick Beverley won the Clippers the game, and you won’t believe his reasoning. 

The Clippers survived elimination in game-5 against the Chris Paul-led Suns, and they did it in style. The team started the game just looking the better side and led 20-5 early.

As the game went on, players like Patrick Beverley, Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris, and Paul George came up huge on both ends of the floor and were a big reason for LA’s dominance in this game.

The away team led for almost the whole game. However, Phoenix refused to go away either, and even took the lead in the third, even if for just a few moments. This was when the home team looked most threatening. And right then, Patrick Beverley pulled kind of a dirty trick on Chris Paul.

The Clippers star first bumped and got under the player, while he was in mid-air. As a result of the foul, CP3 landed agonizingly on his back, and writhed in pain for a bit.

Most players would show remorse in this situation, right? Not Patrick Beverley.

The 32-year-old instead started to mock the player. And, while most of the NBA community have indemnified the player for it, Skip Bayless seems to be loving the whole fiasco.

We’re all for competitive spirit and some tough fouls here and there. But, even we have to admit, this one could have been handled better by the Clippers.

Chris Paul could have been seriously hurt on that one. A twisted ankle, or even a bruised back could have ended the series, and even the postseason for the Point God. So, when a player could’ve potentially hurt someone, you don’t expect them to be skipping around to mock the player they fouled.

While most of the NBA community agrees with us though, Skip Bayless is almost proud of it. Here is what he tweeted after the game.

That game turned on Patrick Beverly daring to mock Chris Paul’s attempt to flop. Sent a message to both teams: “We ain’t afraid of no CP3.”

To be fair to the analyst, this is indeed where the game turned completely in the Clippers’ favor. Just about every player started firing, and the team eventually won with a score of 116-102.

However, as fans of the game here, we wouldn’t want to see such dangerous fouls repeated.
