“Shaq, you’re improving at Serbian”: Bogdan Bogdanovic praises the Lakers legend for his effort at learning Serbian after Hawks take Game 4 win vs Bucks
Shaq seems to have improved his command of Serbian from the last time he tried the language on TV. Bogdan Bogdanovic definitely thinks so.
The Atlanta Hawks overcame injury to their talisman and floor general to blow the Milwaukee Bucks out. It all came down to some excellent team play as they rallied superbly in the absence of Trae Young.
Lou Williams was butter, Cam Reddish turned up for the fight and Bogdan Bogdanovic was making an impact on both ends of the floor. Clint Capela and John Collins continued to give consistent effort and hustled hard all night long.
Most of the headlines from the game will be regarding a knee injury to 2-time champion Giannis Antetokounmpo. We do indeed hope that he comes back and that his injury isn’t long-term.
That takes nothing away from the Hawks’ effort. Atlanta turned up for the fight like the dogs they’ve proven to be over the course of the whole playoff run. They held a lead when Giannis went down and were great value for it till that point.
They capitalized on the Greek Freak’s absence well and put the game to bed in a hurry. Bogdan Bogdanovic will be mightily pleased how his team played on the night.
Bogdan Bogdanovic compliments Shaq for his broken Serbian greeting post-game
Shaq has been trying out a few Serbian phrases on TV every time he interviews a player from that country. Many of us noted his attempts to speak Serbian with Jokic twice through this season thus far.
He seems intent on improving his delivery, but he just can’t get his American accent out of the way. However, Bogdan Bogdanovic took his greeting in great humor, complimenting him for picking his act up.

Shaq proceeded to ask a nice joke question, and received a great compliment from Bogdanovic for his own free throw shooting in return:
“I’ve always said everyone with the last name -vic is a great shooter. How is that? Do you guys have a different routine than American people? Cuz I’ve been in this league a long time, and everybody I came across in this league with the last name -vic was a great shooter.”
“I heard one story that your (Shaq’s) seasons you were struggling from the free throw line. And one of your best seasons from the free throw line was when they called you O’Nealovic.”
We can only hope that there’s a day when Shaq is able to have a conversation lasting longer than a single dialogue. But either way, it’s nice to see him try and engage with European players in such fashion.
