“I have to check my privilege and be a better ally”: LeBron James’ spokesperson Adam Mendelsohn issues apology for his callous comments in conversation with Rachel Nichols
LeBron James’ spokesman Adam Mendelsohn has issued a public apology for his insensitive comments in a leaked conversation with Rachel Nichols.
This conversation was revealed in an article about the friction between Maria Taylor and Rachel Nichols by NY Times. Nichols felt slighted at having her spot as NBA Gametime host being taken from her at the eleventh hour.
In her eyes, this was a violation of the contract she’d agreed to carry out. In her own words:
“If you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity — which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it — like, go for it. Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away.”
This conversation took place on a Zoom call that was picked up by an ESPN backroom producer. He was suspended for 2 weeks after he sent this video to Maria Taylor.
LeBron James’ spokesman Adam Mendelsohn issues a public apology
The article has generated a tidal wave of backlash for all parties involved. Nichols, in particular, is being ‘cancelled’ on social media. Mendelsohn has responded to it with a somber apology for his callous words:
“I made a stupid, careless comment rooted in privilege and I am sincerely sorry. I shouldn’t have said it or even thought it,” Mendelsohn said in an email.
“I work to support these movements and know that the people affected by these issues never get to be exhausted or have nothing left. I have to continue to check my privilege and work to be a better ally.”
This piece a shit Adam Mendelsohn apologized for saying he’s tire of Black Lives Matters by sending a letter to CNBC – Let that sink in!

Mendelsohn’s apology seems to be worded humbly and he has owned up to the error in his ways. LeBron James and his camp will hope that his actions speak as loudly as his words.
