“Hope the Blazers play the Hawks on October 24th”: Damian Lillard sends out a plea to the NBA to face off against Trae Young and co in order to watch a lightweight title boxing match
Damian Lillard requests that the NBA have the Blazers face off against the Hawks on October 24th so that he can attend a boxing match in Atlanta.
Damian Lillard is known to be one of the most multifaceted superstars the NBA has to offer. When talking about ‘multifaceted’, it isn’t referring to his play on the court, rather what he does off it. Everybody knows about his skills on the mic and the various collabs he’s done with legends like Lil Wayne. He’s also adopted a new hobby over the years.
This hobby is boxing as over the years, he’s released several videos of himself putting on the gloves and sparring with his trainer. Unlike the teenage celebrity boxers that have been popping up all across social media these past 18 months, Damian Lillard can box. From the limited footage fans have seen, it’s quite apparent that a right hook from Dame could knock someone out cold.
It’s safe to say that the Blazers superstar has fully engrossed himself into the sport and let’s it be known on Twitter from time to time.
Damian Lillard wants to attend a fight in Atlanta and so asks the NBA to have a Blazers-Hawks game around the same time.
Being as big of a fan as Damian Lillard is of boxing, it’s understandable that he wants to view some of his favorite athletes within the sport, face off in person. This hasn’t been possible due to the ongoing pandemic but ESPN Ringside released information regarding a fight between Jamal Herring and Shakur Stevenson that will take place on October 23rd of this month.
In an effort to see the lightweight title be defended live, Dame sent out a request on Twitter to the NBA, asking them to schedule the Portland Trailblazers vs Atlanta Hawks on October 24th.
I hope we play the hawks on Oct 24th @nba https://t.co/5tyAuxakZ1

This isn’t the first time Damian Lillard has talked about Shakur Stevenson as he released a list of proposed fights he’d love to see take place last year. Among the names was a dream bout between Shakur and Vasily Lomachenko.
